African model strutts Sydney streets for her modelling portfolio shoot

We were searching for some street locations when I spotted this quiet lane complete with strong shadows to add some shape and texture into the mix. Quinnie's first shoot with me on location in urban Sydney.

Fashion shoot for Larissa's modelling portfolio was almost blown away in recent gale.

Although it was blowing a fierce gale, I thought the great light we were blessed with when the clouds suddenly parted should not be wasted. I had a location in mind that could offer some shelter and utilise the warm light. In this image I made use of the colours that complemented her skin tone, the textures of the metal frame and the shadows it threw. Even that wind was harnessed to provide some hair and skirt movement, a win win all around, and another  great day at the office!

Two models with great lips and hair is what inspired me to get these girls together.

When I mentioned that I was looking to shoot a group of girls with long great hair, Alexis mentioned her friend Larissa. Yes she has great hair, but also great lips to compliment her strong sensual look. Now the search for a third for the shoot I have in mind.

Portfolio shoot of a new model I scouted in Enmore road.

I saw Jacqueline walking with her father recently and after approaching them, we organised to shoot a test at my studio. Jacqueline is an actor and aspiring model, so her interest in both acting and modelling  is going to be a big plus for her.
As I wanted to start off by keeping things simple, I went without getting makeup and hair done by a stylist, and just shot some simple studio shots to give us both a feel for what we can do together. The images here are a few of the many produced on the day for a start to Jacqueline's folio.

Modelling portfolio fashion beauty shoot for Monique's folio with a classical feel of elegance.

A model's headshots need both to capture something of her/his looks and personality, but also give an idea of where she/he can take us. This image was one of four looks I created with the help of Karen Hopwood, one my favourite hair and makeup artists. Karen's talent and work ethic promote confidence that we would get the great images we aim for.
I have shot with Monique a few times (see older posts) and still have many more image ideas of her stunning red hair to "get on film".

Fashion swimwear shoot in urban location shows off Monique's edgy look

Shooting some swimear for Monique's portfolio in one of my favourite urban locations was a rewarding experience. The simple black onepiece swimsuit I shot her in emphasised her edgy and sexy look.

The more I look at this, the more I love it, it's the strength and intensity of the connection Gillian has with us through the lens that holds my attention. Something that is rare in today's world of anaemic and insipid images. A world where so many are scared to show emotion. We need strong images now more than ever, before we drown in this insipid sea of mediocrity that is flooding us. Bland is not something I want to endorse.
